Pressure Treated Cypress Radius Edge Decking. As an outdoor
decking material cypress is surpassed only by some South
American species (Ipe and Poa Lope)
that are not only too dense to nail but also prohibitively expensive.
The pressure treatment coupled with
the naturally produced cypressene resists rot and infestation
unlike any other North American wood. Rot resistance
can be attributed to the fact that Cypress
is particularly stingy with its water content. It takes a lengthy
process to suck out the moisture in
cypress, but once dry resists the reabsorption with the same tenacity.
This is in stark contrast with Pine
decking, that not only is easy to dry but just as easy to soak
up moisture over time. This accounts for cypress's
longevity and workability advantages over
Pine. The Cypress deck will weather to a nice splinterless gray
appearance, holding its nails and shape
nicely. In contrast, any Pine deck owner knows that hammering down
extruding nails and removing splintering and checking
wood is a way of life, not to mention
Pine's tendency to age with a moist black color. Newly installed Cypress PT Decking 10 Year old Cypress Decking
